Inclusions invite curiosity. Interpreting them requires care, context and expertise.

Curving horsetail inclusions in a Ural demantoid reference specimen

What a horsetail
can tell us.

Radiating or curved internal features are part of demantoid’s fascination. The reference photograph here documents a Ural specimen; it is not evidence about any stone in the Persian Demantoid collection.

One feature is not an origin report.

GIA notes that horsetail inclusions also occur in demantoid from Iran and Italy. Seeing one does not, on its own, establish Russian origin.

Ask to see the exact stone.

A meaningful inclusion study connects the photograph, lighting or magnification information and specimen reference. Generic micrographs should not be presented as the interior of a stone for sale.
